It is a popular ornamental houseplant grown both indoor and outdoor in the subtropical climate. It has a stalky stem with long green leaves with light yellow strips running through the stem. It is easy to grow plant that requires little maintenance.
It is a stunning houseplant with wide brightly marked leaves and thick woody stem. It does well in low light condition and its wide leaves are long and arc gracefully from the stalk.
Growing Conditions:
Sunlight: This plant should be grown in bright indirect sunlight, but is known to tolerate lower light levels.
Soil: It require well-drained soil rich in organic matter.
Watering: Water only when the soil feels dry to touch. Soil must never be allowed to dry out completely.
Application of Fertilizer: Apply organic fertilizers during spring and rainy season. Loosen the soil without damaging the roots. It will help the plant to uptake the nutrients and moisture easily.
Repotting: When a plant outgrows in current pot, re-pot with fresh potting soil and some fertilizer. Do the re-potting late evening and keep the plant in shady area for 2 to 3 days and then move the plant in required light condition.
Temperature: Keep above 55ºF if possible. They do best in the mid-70ºs.
